Intermediate roller clutch failure
Mechanical diode failure
OE retaining ring falls off
Cause
The snap ring that secures the intermediate roller clutch or mechanical diode to the reverse drum can be blown off at high engine rpm.
Correction
This wrap-around spiral retaining ring maintains contact with the groove bottom during high rpm.
