Pushrods with a length of

8.125 inches (approx. 20.64 cm) are commonly used in high-performance or modified Ford small-block engines, specifically the 351 Windsor (351W). They are designed to accommodate aftermarket valvetrain components, such as guide plates, roller rockers, or aftermarket cylinder heads that require a longer-than-stock pushrod.

Application Details
  • Engine Family: Ford Small Block (351W).
  • Mustang Generation: Typically 1969–1993 Mustangs (when swapping or rebuilding with performance parts).
  • Purpose: These are generally considered performance pushrods rather than stock replacements. They are frequently needed when:
    • Using aftermarket heads (e.g., Trick Flow, AFR).
    • Upgrading to hardened pushrods for guide plates.
    • Using roller lifters or taller-than-stock lifters.
  • Key Specs: 5/16-inch diameter, typically 0.080-inch wall thickness, Chromoly steel, heat-treated for guide plate compatibility.
